Who we are
History
In 2018, a group of figure skaters from Henry, Washburn, and Southwest reintroduced hockey cheerleading in Minneapolis with the goal of building school spirit and city-wide pride while advocating for and showcasing ice sports in and around the Minneapolis Public Schools. The following year, the team successfully recruited team members from six of the seven Minneapolis High Schools and became an official varsity sport within MPS. In recent years, we’ve welcomed beginner-level skaters to our team, giving athletes an opportunity to improve their skating skills.
Our Mission
The hockey cheer team aims to foster a fun, inclusive, game-day experience for teams, fans, and families. As proud supporters of the city’s boys, girls, and adapted high school hockey teams, we lead the crowd in cheering on our players while fostering a strong sense of community and school pride. Through social media and school webcasting ventures, cheerleaders bring the exciting game of hockey to new audiences within their schools and the broader Minneapolis community .In their advocacy and coaching efforts, hockey cheerleaders support the youth talent pipeline for ice sports (both hockey and figure skating) in Minneapolis.
